What's new in 2026.3.0
NodeInsLab 2026.3.0
The largest release since launch. NodeInsLab gains an AI assistant that builds graphs for you, distributed execution across machines, a fully redesigned interface, and four new instrumentation plugins — data logging, professional PDF reporting, live dashboards, and dockable workspaces.
AI Assistant
An AI panel now lives inside the editor. Describe what you want to measure and it wires the graph.
- Build graphs from a sentence — creates nodes, connections, variables and tabs directly on the canvas, with automatic layout so the result is readable, not a knot.
- Bring your own provider — Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, or a local model through LM Studio or any OpenAI-compatible server. Nothing leaves your machine when you run local.
- Live streaming responses with a collapsible activity log, so you can see every action the assistant takes on your project.
- Recipes — ready-made templates (for example a full Arduino dashboard) generated in one step.
- Compact prompt mode for small-context local models.
Automation & Integration
- MCP server — connect NodeInsLab to external agents and tools through the Model Context Protocol, with hardware context, plugin awareness and structured execution diagnostics.
Distributed & Headless Execution
Run a graph on the machine that is wired to the hardware, and keep the editor on your desk.
- Headless runner execute projects with no GUI, on a lab PC or an embedded target.
- Session-based remote execution — start a run, detach, close your laptop, reattach later and pick the run back up.
- One-click workspace sync — the whole project, including plugin dependencies, is packaged and shipped to the remote host automatically.
- Unified network topology — declare your hosts once; DDS configuration, host identity and capability checks follow from it. Add This PC and Test Core Host buttons verify a target before you commit to a run.
- Smarter environment setup — automatic
uvdiscovery, dependency bootstrap and clear, actionable errors instead of silent fallbacks.
Interface
- Redesigned node menu — a two-pane browser with fuzzy search, category tree, rich node cards and context-aware filtering. Finding a node is now a keystroke, not a hunt.
- New look, applied live — a refreshed navy Default theme and a modern Light theme. Switching themes no longer requires restarting the application; every panel, dialog and subprocess window restyles in place.
- Variable groups — organise the sidebar into collapsible, colour-coded groups with drag-and-drop reordering and full undo support.
- Issue Resolver — a dedicated panel replaces blocking dialogs on project load. Connection problems and outdated nodes appear as cards with an Update button and click-to-navigate highlighting on the canvas.
- Inline editor widgets — click-drag scrubbing on numbers, inline text entry, native dropdowns, all theme-aware.
- Auto-align (Space) tidies selected nodes with undo support; replay walks through how a graph was built, with camera pan.
- Quality of life — panel sizes persist across restarts, variables can be swapped in place on Get/Set nodes, port groups can be removed from their header, and an examples menu surfaces every plugin's sample projects.
Security
- Signed installers — every release is cryptographically signed, and the auto-updater refuses anything that does not verify.
- Multi-key verification with key rotation support.
- Hardened plugin distribution — signature verification on download, and stricter authentication on the plugin marketplace.
Installation
Download NodeInsLab_v2026.3.0_Setup.exe and run it. Existing installations upgrade in place; your projects, settings and installed plugins are preserved.
Purchased plugins are not bundled with the installer — sign in inside the application and download them from the marketplace.
